The main expertise of the Department of Molecular Genetics is in the field of human molecular genetics with focus on complex diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system.
Main goals:
- 1. identify genes and genetic risk factors
- 2. understand the biological dysfunction of disease genes
- 3. contribute to the development of more effective therapies
Ambitions:
- 1. continued investment in patient/family resources for genetic studies
- 2. improved phenotyping including clinical and biological endophenotypes
- 3. increase genetic throughput and genetic analyses
- 4. establish disease related functional genomics and cell biology
- 5. technology transfer
